A new drying out potato pure machine that reduces the amount of emissions has been released by Tummers Food Processing Solutions, a June 27 news release said. The E2E SteamClosure was built in conjunction with Solutherm.
Potato flake production involves passing puree over a heated drum dryer, which evaporates the moisture leaving a thin potato sheet behind. The release noted that this grounds up potato flakes into the desired size, but extraction process causes a lot of steam to be produced.
In the E2E SteamClosure the steam is captured in pure form and then turned into water which can be reused elsewhere in the production process for blanching, heating, cleaning, or other purposes. It also has no odour emissions. The E2E SteamClosure is fitted hermetically over the drum dryer, the release said.
