MCDC Field Day to be Held Aug. 9

The Manitoba Crop Diversification Centre (MCDC) is holding its annual field on Aug. 9, a news release said.

Registration for the conference will start at 8:45 a.m. CDT at the MCDC field trial site two miles north of the Carberry, Man.-MCDC office. The release noted the field day program starts at 9 a.m. CDT and will cover potato-focused research followed by extending information on high value crops options in rotation to processing potatoes with lunch to follow.

Topics covered will include:

  • Potatoes small plot and field scale research
  • Overview of the groundwater recharge study
  • Mustard as a biofumigant for potatoes
  • Herbicide injury in potatoes
  • A soil pit demo
  • Farm to market opportunities
