Manitoba Potato Harvest 75 Per cent Done

-

The potato harvest for storage in Manitoba is 75 per cent done with some farms being completely finished, the Sept. 29 provincial potato report from Manitoba Agriculture’s Vikram Bisht said.

“Due to better than budgeted yields some farms have decided to not harvest some acres,” Bisht said.

The harvest for processing direct-from-field is still ongoing for the seventh week. Some harvest work has been interrupted over the past week due to warm daytime temperatures, leading to warm tubers, the report said. Daytime high temperatures ranged from 27.3 to 31.7 C in various potato areas with overnight minimums warmer than the previous week at 3.1 to 11 C.
