The fourth annual Potato Week has officially begun in Manitoba with almost 70 restaurants at 85 locations taking part, a Jan. 24 news release from Peak of the Market.
Potato Week runs from Feb. 4 to 14 with restaurants serving potato dishes ranging from melts, to melts to poutine to doughnuts to ice cream and even a potato beer, the release says. A new website has also been launched to promote the week. It includes listings of all restaurants taking part as well the potato dishes they are serving.
There’s no fee for restaurants to participate. The release notes Peak of the Market growers know how difficult the last few years have been for the restaurant industry and want to help. Each participating restaurant has received 100 lbs. of potatoes.
“We’ve all seen and heard the toll the pandemic has taken on so many restaurants. Growers want to help get diners back into restaurants, so restaurants can keep doing what they love to do, feed diners,” Pamela Kolochuk, CEO of Peak of the Market says in the release.
