The Ontario Potato Conference has released its schedule for the 2024 conference featuring a late blight symposium, a Jan. 8 news release said. The conference is happening Feb. 29 in Guelph, Ont. at the Delta Hotel and Conference Center.
The morning late blight symposium will feature Gary Secor speaking on what is being done globally to combat late blight and recommended management practices. Mark VanOostrum will cover what he and the Ontario potato growers he worked with experienced in 2023 during the late blight outbreak. Andy Robinson will discuss options to control volunteers and the risk that cull piles will pose for the 2024 growing season.
The afternoon sessions will cover soil health, variable-rate seed-planting, tuber soft rot management, blackleg and Dickeya.
