B.C.: Free Mental Health Online Training – Tuesday, April 2

-

Farming can be stressful. As a “front-line” worker to farmers, you may, at some time in your career, be exposed to a farmer who may be having thoughts of suicide. As such we hope you will consider being a BC AgLife Connector.

The AgLife Network – Connector Training is a suicide prevention gatekeeper and mental health awareness training for anyone involved in agriculture in British Columbia. The training will help you identify people who may be experiencing thoughts/feelings of suicide and will teach you to encourage them to ask for help. This program is based on the successful and evidence-based programs: Sentinel Program (Quebec) and Guardian Network (Ontario).

The Connector Training is approximately 6.5 hours long (including breaks) and covers a 7 Module program aimed to help build awareness of suicide and its impacts within agriculture while also teaching applicable skills from the Check, Care, Connect model to support people experiencing thoughts and feelings of suicide or other impacts to mental wellness.

This training is for ANYONE who works with or in agriculture. To participate in this FREE training, participants must be 18 years or older and be involved with B.C.’s agricultural industry or communities in some capacity. For any questions or inquiries please email [email protected].

We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the Province of British Columbia through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
