HZPC’s Potato Days Returns for Online/In-person Event

HZPC’s Potato Days 2022 will be on Nov. 9 to 11 with online and in-person events happening, an Oct. 31 news release said. The program will focus on the challenges of food security and sustainability now and in the future, and how the potato sector can make an important contribution.

The online portion will take place on Nov. 9 with host Annemarie van Campen and HZPC CEO Gerard Backx talking with guests about how HZPC and its partners can contribute to healthy food and a healthy planet. The program will also include a keynote by Katrien Descheemaeker, Professor of Plant Production Systems at Wageningen University & Research, and a panel discussion with Andries Middag (CEO Vavi), Elisabete Coutinho (packer at CALCOB in Portugal) and Robert Graveland (director HZPC Research) on the topic of drought and how we can face it together, the release said.

The release noted there will be a lot of focus on the new potato varieties developed by HZPC. In the opening show, HZPC Marketing Manager Michiel ten Duis will introduce everyone to the superpowers of the sustainable varieties Camelia and Quintera. On Nov. 10 and 11, attendees are invited to visit the HZPC head office in Joure.
