The annual Alliston Potato Festival, which was set to be held on Aug. 7-9, has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, organizers announced on their website.

The festival was set to celebrate its 47th year. It is held every year in the southern Ontario community of Alliston. It attracts thousands to the town each year and is a staple of the town’s local economy.

Festival organizers plan to hold the event in 2021 on Aug. 6-8.
