The 2019 Ontario Potato Field Day was a huge success. A big thank you to HJV Equipment for hosting and to the Potato Board for sponsoring this summer event. Approximately 275 growers, potato industry personnel and researchers attended.

The 2019 Ontario Potato Field Day was a huge success. Approximately 275 growers, potato industry personnel and researchers attended.

The Field Day was a great opportunity to see a range of new equipment, including an impressive Field Loader from Grimme, to spend time at the trade show, and to see new varieties.  A very important component of the Field Day is growers’ networking in a friendly atmosphere.

The Potato Field Day is the result of team work. A special thanks to Brenn-B Farms—the varieties on display were grown at Brenn-B Farms. The sweet corn was donated by Dorsey Farms. The kind help of Peter VanderZaag, Mark VanOostrum and Patrick Dol is greatly appreciated. The samples of vodka provided by Beattie’s distillery were welcome by the attendees!

It was very nice to see younger growers with their wives and children—the future potato growers of Ontario—having lots of fun at the Potato  Field Day.

Finally, a special thanks to all of you who attended the Field Day; you made it a great event in the middle of a super busy summer!
