World Potato Congress Announces New International Advisor

The World Potato Congress Inc. has Tomasz Bieńkowski as their new International Advisor.

Bieńkowski is an expert in plant production, particularly in the breeding and seed production of cereals and potatoes. Since 2000, he has been the president and owner of CN Nidzica, one of Poland’s largest seed and breeding enterprises. He also operates a specialized commercial seed farm.

From 2007 to 2013, Tomasz spearheaded numerous initiatives. He is the co-founder and President of the Polish Potato Federation and served as an expert in the 7th EU Framework Program – AGREE. As an active member of Europatat, he participates in the seed committee and the European Committee on Rules & Practices of the Inter-European Trade in Potatoes (RUCIP), having established the first RUCIP representative office in Poland.

Bieńkowski has co-organized and acted as commissioner for the Potato Poland fair and has also helped organize the Polish Potato Congress.

As a co-creator of the Polish Potato Program 2020-2025, he initiated the formation of the Polish parliamentary team for the development of the potato Industry.

He is dedicated to promoting Polish and European agri-food products in both domestic and international markets.

Bieńkowski  currently serves as the deputy chairman of the Fruit and Vegetable Promotion Fund at the National Agriculture Support Center and is a member of the Program Council of the Polish Plant Health Inspection.

 “As we ramp up planning for the World Potato Congress in Gdańsk, Poland, set for June 2026, Tomasz has played a crucial role in bringing the Congress to this region,” said Peter VanderZaag, President of the World Potato Congress.

“His extensive knowledge and expertise in the potato sector, along with his numerous affiliations within the European landscape, will ensure that the voices from this region are heard at the WPC discussion table.”
