Susan Ainsworth has been hired as the new general manager of the Keystone Potato Producers Association (KPPA), an April 3 news release said. Ainsworth will take over from retiring General Manager Dan Sawatzky as of Sept. 1, working with him over the next several months in preparation.

“I am pleased that Susan has accepted this responsibility and I am looking forward to working with her,” Chad Berry, KPPA board chair, says in the release.

The release noted she has worked in various roles within the potato industry in Manitoba over the past 26 years and has experience at numerous levels including retail, government, post-secondary education, industry, and on farm.

In the release Sawatzky stated Ainsworth’s past experience and exposure within the potato industry make her a perfect choice for the position.

“She is passionate about agricultural education, sustainable food production and community development and was a recent recipient of the Women of Distinction Award in Agriculture recognizing her commitment to the community of Westman through vision, creativity, and initiative,” the release said.

The release noted Ainsworth is excited for the opportunity to contribute to the potato industry in her new role.
