Important research by the International Potato Center is having an impact on potato producers around the globe.
The International Potato Center has a global focus. The outcomes of its research programs have relevance for farmers from Calcutta to Calgary.
“The PIC is a not for profit centre for research and development work to improve the role of the potato and the seed potato in the human diet,” says PIC Chair, Peter Vander Zaag.
Headquartered in Lima, Peru, the PIC co-ordinates a global, collaborative research initiative involving over 30 countries, agricultural research facilities, universities, and nongovernmental organizations. It receives funding through the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research, which is supported largely by governments and foundations like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
