Québec Parmentier, a Quebec-based potato distributor, has filed for creditor protection, according to an Oct. 10 release. The Quebec Superior Court has appointed MNP Ltd. as monitor for the case and granted the potato company protection under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act.
In a notice to creditors on Oct. 17, it was stated Québec Parmentier will continue to operate its business as normal with the assistance of MNP, while it’s determined how the business will be restructured. As of Oct. 17 no claims procedure has been approved so creditors aren’t required yet to file any proof of claims. A list of creditors is available online.
The notice noted that as part of proceedings, MNP will continue to prepare reports on the creditor proceedings which will be then posted to their website. Creditors should regularly check the website for updates on the case.
In recent years, Quebec Parmentier has grown with purchases of seed potato producer Ferme G. G. & A. Montminy, potato production companies Les Fermes Petite Nation and Les Pommes de terre du Témiscamingue, and merging with fellow potato packer Patate-Saint-Ambroise.
