Potato Growers of Alberta Launch New Video Series

-

The Potato Growers of Alberta (PGA) are putting the hard work and dedication of the province’s farmers under the public spotlight in a new video series, “The Story of Us: Alberta Potato Growers.”

The series will feature five potato farming families from across the province, giving viewers an inside look at their operations, kicking off with the inaugural video, “The Seed: Where It All Begins.” This episode sets the foundation for understanding the crucial role that seed potatoes play in the industry, according to a recent press release.

Additionally, the series will feature an informative segment on water usage, emphasizing the significance of this vital resource for Alberta’s potato industry and highlighting the advanced irrigation systems some local farmers are using.

The series is in response to the PGA’s recent strategic planning initiatives, in which the Board of Directors identified two primary goals: to proactively foster awareness of Alberta’s potato industry and to enhance trust through transparent engagement.

These short vignettes aim to educate the public about the history, technological advancements, community impact, and challenges faced by these farmers throughout the year. By sharing their stories, the PGA hopes to cultivate greater understanding and trust between consumers and potato producers, showcasing the hard work that goes into providing safe and healthy food for families and communities.
