Manitoba Potato Production Days Cancelled

-

The Manitoba Potato Production Days (MPPD) planning committee has decided to cancel the 2021 conference which was set to be held in Brandon, Man. from Jan. 26 to 28, the MaryAnn Sareault, MPPD conference coordinator, says in a news release on Aug. 27.

While the technical program could be held virtually the trade show cannot, the release notes. “Social interaction whether in the trade show or at meals is an integral part of the conference and with so many uncertainties, increasing number of incidents of COVID in the province, it is more important to keep everyone safe.”

The organizing committee did not want to compromise the reputation and quality they have strived hard to achieve by reducing the technical program, number of displays or limiting attendance.

The committee thanked past sponsors and exhibitors for their support in the release. They also thanked the Keystone Centre and Canad Inns Brandon for being understanding of their choice. The event complex and hotel are where the conference is regularly held.

MPPD has been held annually since 1973, while they will be taking a break for 2021, the organizing committee hopes to be back in 2022.
